Todd Hebert, who received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, lives and works in Rhinebeck, NY. At 31, Hebert has developed a style that is equal parts photo-realism, comedy and nostalgia. His handling of material is, in painting and print, a wonder of seamless gradation and razor-sharp definition. In a 2003 review of Hebert’s debut exhibition in California, David Pagel writes, Simple realism and offbeat fantasy fuse in his oddly familiar pictures, as do old-fashioned surrealism and new fangled cartoons. His work is has been acquired by numerous public and private collections, including the Neuberger Berman Collection, NY, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA, and the Cartin Collection, Hatford, CT.
